Welcome to Djibouti - November to February (Starting February 2020)

Djibouti should be at the top of every divers list for those in search of whalesharks, dolphins, and manta rays. The Arabian Aggressor offers 7-night trips from Friday to Friday. Djibouti, named after its capital city, is located in the Horn of Africa at the southern end of the Red Sea and formed by the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Djibouti offers divers pristine and untouched waters bordered by the magnificent Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

From mid October to February, plankton blooms develop in an enclosed bay names The Gulf of Tadjourah near Djibouti City. Although whalesharks can be seen throughout the year, encounters are especially common during this time. The plankton-rich waters attract many of the great pelagic species.

The country itself has much to offer with three geographic regions; the coastal areas, the volcanic plateaus and the mountain ranges with no rivers that flow into the coastal areas. This contributes to the healthy coral reefs, colorful soft corals and large schools of fish. Over 200 species of coral are found in Djibouti making it an extremely diverse ecosystem. Currents coming in from the Indian Ocean cause large marine animals such as whale sharks, pilot whales, beaked whales, sharks, manta rays, and dolphins more likely to be seen in the Djiboutian waters. It’s also very common to see large schools of stingrays, barracudas and groupers.

During the 7-night trips, you will visit three areas off the coast; the Seven Brothers Islands, Gulf of Tadjourah and Ghoubet al Kharab. Read more about the diving.

On the start date of the charter departure, transfers are provided from the Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport (JIB) to the yacht and return on the charter departure date.
