The S/Y Palau Siren was constructed, like her sister ships, by Worldwide Dive and Sail‘s team of master yacht builders in Sulawesi, Indonesia. All the small touches and comforts of our Siren Fleet liveaboard yachts have been included, coupled with new design features and interior decoration to reflect the style of the Palauans.

The 40 metre S/Y Palau Siren luxury liveaboard launched in July 2012 to offer year-round diving trips in Palau. Built with the same specifications as her sister yachts, the S/Y Philippine Siren and the S/Y Indo Siren, the cabins are either fixed double or twin bed, however we offer flexibility with 2 cabins which can be converted from twin to double to suit the needs of our guests. The dining area is very spacious offering a great setting for all your meals. The dive deck is perhaps the most spacious and comfortable you would have experienced.

Palau siren is a camera friendly!

The Palau Siren has designated indoor and outdoor workstations for charging, preparation and maintenance of your camera and video equipment. Large storage drawers for your peripheral items are available, as well as numerous charging points, with adapters available (sockets are 2-pin European style at 220v or 110v) Naturally, we also have large rinse tanks with fresh water solely for camera and video equipment – this beautiful liveaboard vessel truly sets out to be the pros choice for underwater photography and videography.

Palau Dive sites

ULONG CHANNEL

is often considered the best dive in Palau! This exhilarating drift dive has it all; hard & soft coral encrusted walls, schools of sharks and other pelagic action, a beautiful stand of lettuce coral as you drift through the channel, giant clams and plenty of grouper just to name a few. Keep your eyes open, seeing just about anything is possible on this dive!

SIAES TUNNEL, ULONG

offers divers an awesome experience as they dive through a large naturally lit tunnel. Cup corals, soft corals, reef fish and invertebrates inhabit the walls and ceilings of the tunnel. Near the bottom dart fish, long nose hawk fish, gobies and frog fish can be found. White tip reef sharks sleep on the bottom near the tunnel’s exit, while big eye trevally circle around.

IRO WRECK

A Japanese oil supply ship – sunk during World War II by American forces – lies upright in just 20m/65ft of clear blue water close to the harbour of Koror. The bow is encrusted with corals and the gun mounted there is clearly visible as you descend the mooring line. Large groupers are commonly seen whilst schools of batfish hover above.

GERMAN CHANNEL

Formed in the 1900s when German miners blasted a straight waterway through the coral to transport their phosphates, this site is now famed for its appeal to manta rays that are common visitors to the coral bommies at just 15m/ 50ft. The channel is over 1km long and allows for fabulous drift dives and despite the blasting, the coral bommies attract plenty of fish species.

SAM’S WALL, MALAKAL HARBOUR

Just outside Sam’s Tours Palau Dive Centre, the wall and jetty provide an excellent habitat for the smaller critters such as pipefish, spiny devilfish, juvenile batfish and a wide variety of crustaceans. Dive at sunset to see the “fat” mandarin fish mating spectacle.

TURTLE COVE, NGEMELIS ISLAND

Begins by plunging into a small blue hole on top of the shallow reef. Upon exiting at the bottom divers drift through schools of surgeonfish, butterfly fish and red-tooth triggerfish. Large schools of black snapper enjoy coming right up to divers along the wall. The plateau at near the end of the dive is filled with beautiful anemones, reef fish, sharks and turtles to finish off the dive. On occasion a leopard shark or ray will cruise by for all to see.

JELLYFISH LAKE

One of approximately 70 island marine lakes found throughout Palau. Here the golden jellyfish (Mastigias) have adapted over time to shed their stinging cells allowing for this one-of-a-kind experience with them. The jellyfish follow the sun each day using the sunlight to help algae produce sugars which it in turn shares with the host. The trail leading to the lake is not too long but is a little steep so make sure to wear your booties.

BLUE HOLES / BLUE CORNER, NGEMELIS ISLAND

A “big” site and perhaps the most famous dive site in Palau, Blue Corner has steep sheer walls and an abundance of fish life. Strong currents bring plenty of blacktip, whitetip and grey reef sharks, schools of jacks and huge Napoleon wrasse. Turtles and colourful reef fish are seen also in the coral gardens and smaller creatures such as leaf fish can also be found here. The most shark action occurs is between 15m/50ft and 25m/80ft at the corner. Use of reef hooks is advised for the best chance to enjoy the show.

PELELIU CUT, PELELIU ISLAND

A fast paced drift dive is often experienced at the southern tip of Peleliu Island. Different shark species along with tuna, barracuda, sweetlips and rainbow runners, schools of jacks and snappers make this an exhilarating and very “fishy” dive. The vertical walls drop to around 30m/100ft and are covered with tube corals and sponges attracting colourful butterfly and angel fish as well as green and hawksbill turtles.

Launched in 2012, S/Y Palau Siren is a 40m Phinisi yacht for 16 guests, manned by a crew of 12, including Englishspeaking dive guides.

She can travel at a speed of up to 9 knots on her main engine, with an auxiliary engine installed in the unlikely event of main engine failure. Three generators supply 24- hour power to the vessel.

Our on board water makers use a 3-stage ‘reverse osmosis’ filtration system producing clean, safe drinkable water throughout the trip, with a storage facility of up to 16 tonnes. Hot water is supplied to cabins through our centrally-heated system.

The yacht is accompanied by two hard-bottomed fiberglass boats which have ample space for kit set-up. They take divers the short distance to the sites in comfort and ease and remain on stand-by to provide assistance and collect you upon surfacing. Groups can be split between sites depending on preference.
