ISLAND AND RESORT

Welcome to Beqa Lagoon Resort. A visit to Beqa Island is truly a chance to get away from it all. A journey by boat across the Beqa Lagoon will transport you from life’s hustle and bustle to the lovely, secluded Beqa Island. As you near the shoreline, the sound of Fijians singing a traditional welcome song will be the first sign you’ve arrived in paradise. A warm smile and a floral lei greet you when you step onto the sand of this enchanting island resort, where even the palm trees seem to sway to the music in the warm sea breeze. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel at home among the tropical flowers, warm waters and secluded private villas on the island—where no roads and no cars exist to interrupt your tranquility. World-class diving, delicious cuisine, relaxing spa treatments, and the incomparable Fijian hospitality are yours to savor and enjoy throughout your stay. Feel the warmth of this spectacular island paradise—its wonderful weather, tranquil waters, marvelous villas, and friendly smiles you’ll not soon forget.

Just a short boat ride from the resort lies a wonderland of marine life in Beqa Lagoon’s crystal clear waters. More than 100 dive sites along 190 miles of coastline provide ample opportunities to spot and photograph octopus, garden eels, orangutan crabs, rays, bull and tiger sharks, numerous fish species, huge fans, and a rainbow of soft corals—all in 80-degree water with incredible visibility. You can also dive wrecks, become PADI certified, or join a “big fish encounter” where you’ll enjoy one of the best shark experiences in the South Pacific. Even at our door step, on our house reef, you will see plenty of marine life to keep you delighted.

The most striking feature of Beqa Lagoon is its seclusion. Only fifteen square kilometers, villages are scattered around the perimeter and only connected by footpaths or boat. Our resort is a proud extension of its neighboring villages, employing over 75 local staff members who in turn support nearly 250 friends and family members. The resort also hosts visiting doctors, dentists and teachers to help foster community development. Guests that would like to help the local community are encouraged to bring pencils and other school supplies which they can hand over personally on the visit to the school. As a guest, you become part of this community, too. You can visit nearby villages where the resort purchases many local products, meet children at a local school, and witness awe-inspiring traditional ceremonies.

When visiting with us, you in turn will support the local community directly as we purchase all vegetables and fruits at market prices that they can raise in their gardens. This is an excellent income for those that are not employed by the resort directly. No middleman, the proceeds go straight in their pockets. We are also participating in the Sustainable Livelihood Project - Farm to Table - of the University of the South Pacific. This project helps the villagers with sustainable farming practices and organic farming.

In the evenings, you’ll enjoy Meke, traditional Fijian dancing and singing. Clap along with the warm and friendly Fijians as they share this lively tradition with you. You might also find yourself clapping during the famous kava ceremony as you drink from a coconut cup. Kava is made from the dried roots of a pepper tree and is often drunk for social occasions.

The warmth of Fiji will follow you home…and beckon you back to this paradise.

You arrive as a guest. But once you see our villages, talk to our children, clap along with our songs, and drink from our coconut cups—all while enjoying our stunningly beautiful homeland—you leave as family.
